Proforest / Solidaridad Sustainable Soy Meeting for Civil Society Organisations

Proforest and Solidaridad organized a meeting for UK civil society organizations to discuss issues relating to the sustainability of soy production and supply chains and the role of UK NGOs in soy discussions.

The meeting, which took place on January 11th in London, was attended by a number key UK organizations, including Fauna and Flora International, Oxfam GB, WWF UK, Friends of the Earth and Forest Footprint Disclosure. Presentations were delivered by Proforest on the production, trade and sustainability of soy. Action for Social Advancement (ASA), an Indian NGO, presented key issues and challenges facing soy production in India. Solidaridad was also present to share its experiences on working with the Dutch Soy Coalition. The participants of the meeting discussed priority issues for UK organizations working with soy and opportunities for further action.
