Annual Training Programme 2012 announced for September

The Proforest Initiative Annual Training Programme will take place in Oxford from 10 to 14 September 2012. Now in its 11th year, this acclaimed programme provides comprehensive training on the latest sustainability issues in natural resource management and on tools to promote responsible production and purchasing in forestry and agricultural supply chains.

This year the programme offers two different courses: Responsible Forestry and Timber Trade and Responsible Production and Sourcing of Agricultural Commodities. Both courses are a unique opportunity for anyone involved in practical approaches to sustainable management  or certification and responsible purchasing or investment of natural resources. They offer up-to-date and comprehensive information on a wide variety of voluntary and legislative initiatives and their practical consequences.

  • Responsible Forestry and Timber Trade: A 5-day course giving a comprehensive understanding of the market requirements for sustainable and legal timber. The course consists of a 3-day core module which includes training on the EU FLEGT and VPA requirements, the EU Timber Regulation, major certification schemes and legality verification initiatives. An optional 2-day module focuses specifically on the High Conservation Value (HCV) concept and offers an introduction to current climate change issues, including an update on REDD+.
